Wrapping Up National Library Week

In case you didn’t know, April 6-12 is National Library Week – an entire week of celebrating what you love about your local library.

In a time where library funding is being threatened, we wanted to highlight some awesome stories from our SAILS Library Network member libraries that have been making the rounds on social media this week.

The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) shared this comment from an Attleboro Public Library patron about why their library means so much to them for National Library Workers Day (April 8th).

Plainville Public Library recently announced going fine free on the majority of their items.  They’ve also cleared all existing late fees for these item types from their patrons’ accounts.

Hanson Public Library has hosted a “Service Spotlight” series on their socials this week to showcase all the programs and services they offer to their community, culminating in Love Your Hanson Library Day – an in person event happening this Saturday, April 12th in front of the Hanson Town Hall.

Bridgewater Public Library is currently hosting an art exhibition in their Flora T. Little Art Gallery of artwork from several classes at the George H. Mitchell Elementary school throughout the month of April.  A special reception for the young artists will be held on Saturday, April 12th.

Lakeville Public Library and Seekonk Public Library were also featured on the MBLC Facebook page this week as part of the Empowered by Libraries campaign with patrons sharing how local library staff have impacted their lives!

And multiple public libraries across the SAILS Library Network posted for Right to Read Day, to celebrate and champion the freedom to read.

Today (April 10th) is Take Action for Libraries Day, and it’s not too late to support your local library.  Here are some ways to get involved:
