Full Time LIBRARY DIRECTOR

Description:

The Town of North Attleborough is seeking a Library Director at Richard Memorial Library. The Library Director is responsible for the management and operation of the library and its programs in accordance with the policies established by the Town Manager in cooperation with the Board of Library Trustees. The Director reports to the Town Manager and works in close
cooperation with the Trustees, serving as an advisor and as an active participant in policy and budget development, goal setting, planning, and evaluation. The employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
Essential functions include: Responsibility for the development and implementation of library
service strategic plan to effectively meet the present and future needs of the community;
ensuring that the library meets financial and non-financial requirements for State certification
and advises Town on those requirements; Advises, consults, and confers with the Town
Manager and the Library Board of Trustees, other library officials (at State and local level),
citizens, and community groups regarding library services and operations; promoting and
publicizing library activities and programs; and managing the library’s integrated library system
(ILS) and providing appropriate training for staff.

Qualifications: 

A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of progressive library management/administrative experience including library technology preferably in a municipal library setting, including a minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory or management capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education Required: Master’s degree in library science from an accredited school

Salary: $1,729.20 TO $2,256.40 PER WEEK
